Supreme Escape – The Treehouse

It’s not often that a client has a vision for the kind of project that kids dream about and adults covet. Set among mature redwoods in the Waikato, the 14.5 m–high Treehouse responds to its site with a bold structural and architectural gesture.

The combination of technical innovation, materiality and finish was recognised at the Master Joiners 2025 awards, where the project took the Supreme Award as well as Best Creative Use of Timber and Best Timber Project.

The Greenest of Houses

The material palette for The Greenhouse is drawn from nature, producing a distinctly New Zealand balance of moody depth and clear light. Named for its 150,000 iridescent, green glazed handmade bricks from Italy’s Sant’Anselmo and inspired by the landscapes of Tāmaki Makaurau, the building uses materiality to anchor its concept. The Ockham Residential team calls it “a once in a lifetime project.”

Down by the Riverside – Christchurch

After the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that devastated Christchurch in February 2011, the city began a long process of physical and emotional recovery. Seven years on, Riverside Market and Riverside Lanes opened as a seven-day indoor farmers’ market showcasing local produce alongside a curated boutique retail experience — a successor in spirit to the earlier Re:Start container mall.
